With a mission to provide educational opportunities that enhance the quality of life for the community, Snead State Community College was founded in 1898. Located in Boaz, Alabama, the main campus of the college serves students in the surrounding counties while offering one of the largest distance education programs in the state.
In 2018, the college’s Virgil B. McCain Center was vacated and renovated to address structural concerns and modernize the building. The college worked with Business Interiors and B Group Architecture on the new design. Together they created a functional and attractive space to serve students and faculty alike. Kimball International’s product selection and aesthetic, along with references from other area schools, made their National brand a natural fit for the project. Reopened in November 2021, the newly renovated space is now home to university offices including Admissions, Business Office, Campus Engagement, Financial Aid, Information Technology, Recruiting, and Student Services. It also features a student gathering area. To honor the building’s legacy as the Student Union Building, one of the original spiral staircases, as well as a portion of the floor, is on display.
